About:
My name is Lena Balderas, I graduated 2023 with a BDES in Industrial Design from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Born in Portland, Oregon, currently residing in Vancouver, BC.
My work is driven by material exploration and playful intervention, rethinking how things are made and how materials are used to challenge design processes. I am interested in the intersection of traditional craft and industrial design.
I have experience with materials like clay, textiles and wood. I often use found objects for material and form inspiration and I use photography as a tool for observation and curation.
My creations often incorporate a colorful/playful and sculptural approach.
